Fractional CO2 is the most powerful resurfacing tool we have, and it is the one people ask for by name. It is also not the right answer for everyone, which is worth saying up front.
What CO2 actually does
A fractional ablative laser creates a controlled pattern of microscopic channels in the skin. The untreated skin between those channels is what drives fast healing, while the treated columns trigger a deep collagen and elastin response.
The result is that several things improve at once rather than one at a time:

Fine lines and wrinkles soften

Overall radiance lifts
What it treats
CO2 and our related resurfacing lasers are used for skin ageing, crow's feet and eye wrinkles, acne scars, sun and age spots, pigment variation, enlarged pores, skin crinkling, loose skin, skin tags, milia and sebaceous hyperplasia, freckling, spider veins and capillary hemangiomas.
That breadth is the appeal. One treatment addresses several concerns that would otherwise need separate approaches.
Recovery is the trade-off
Expect around five days of downtime. Your skin will be visibly healing during that window.
Plan for it rather than hope around it. Most people book with a specific week in mind. In exchange you get a degree of change in one session that non-ablative treatments take several visits to approach.
When CO2 is not the right call
We are genuinely fond of this laser, and it still is not always the best choice for your skin.
If you cannot take a week of downtime, or if your skin type or concern suits a gentler approach, a non-ablative option such as Pico may get you a better outcome overall. Aggressiveness is not the same as suitability.

Who performs your treatment
Your treatment is carried out by Certified Laser Specialists who are also instructors at our college, training staff from other clinics on these techniques. Students do not perform treatments in our clinic and do not observe them.
With ablative resurfacing, operator judgement on settings and depth is most of the outcome.
